Ruakura Rugby Football Club has been established to bring together 30 proud years of Chiefs Rugby history, uniting the players, staff and supporters who have shaped one of New Zealand’s most iconic rugby identities.
Over the years, some of New Zealand’s most celebrated rugby names have worn the Chiefs jersey, representing not just a franchise, but a hāpori, a wide and passionate community that spans towns, cities, and generations. These players have inspired our people, providing a deep sense of pride and whakapapa that extends far beyond the field, reaching into homes, schools, workplaces, and whānau across New Zealand and around the world.
From humble beginnings, the Chiefs have forged a unique and proud culture built on mahi, humility, flair, and connection. It is a culture that has become the foundation of who we are, and what we stand for. But the story of the Chiefs isn’t just written by those who played the game. Off the field, a remarkable group of rangatira, coaches, administrators and staff have guided the club with vision, innovation, and unwavering belief. Their contribution is equally part of the legacy we carry.
Ruakura Rugby Football Club exists to honour and reconnect these people. The many contributors, on and off the field, who have made the Chiefs what they are today. It is a place of belonging and manaakitanga, where past players and staff can reunite, share stories, and continue to shape the future of our game.
Our mission is to keep the legacy of the Chiefs alive, while providing opportunities to inspire the next generation. Through connection, tradition, and pride the Ruakura Rugby Football Club stands as a kāinga for all those who have helped build our story.
