The Chiefs were 13th out of 14 after five weeks, but a storming second half saw them miss the playoffs by only two points.

The Chiefs took ten bonus points, equal with the Crusaders, including a consolation point (within seven) in every loss.

The 64 points scored against the Force was a new team record.

For the second consecutive season Stephen Donald set a new season scoring record. His 2006 total was 133.

The Chiefs set a new team record for most tries in a season, and equalled existing marks for both conversions and penalty goals. Not unexpectedly, a new record was set for most points scored in a season.
